Sony's New Co-Op Shooter, '4:LOOP,' Officially Unveiled
Sony surprised the world in their participation in this year's The Game Awards, but more so because of their new shooter game set in an alternate Earth, "4:LOOP."
The company shared the latest gameplay trailer of the new title, revealing the four-player co-op game that is coming soon for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
The game's story focuses on a dystopian Earth that suffered from a rapid alien invasion that left the planet in ruins "in less than a minute." The narrator went on to say that "all of this was our fault."
Players will be thrust into this dystopian Earth with three companions in an all-out online battle to save the world, with the machine reconstructing them every time they die. This means that respawning, called reprinting in the game, is set to be a massive part of the campaign.
Get Ready to Dive Into an Original Sci-Fi Universe
According to PlayStation, "4:LOOP's" world is developed by J.J. Abrams and former "Left4Dead" director, Mike Booth, delivering an "original sci-fi universe" in this new title.
The game will have players fight against an army of aliens of different forms and shapes, including a massive Rubik's cube-like organic entity.
Players are thrust to run around the streets filled with humans that were frozen in a purple crystalline substance, hoping to find the solution to the problem.
The main concept of the sci-fi third-person shooter is to go on a "loop" by respawning and learning from past mistakes to save the planet and reverse the effects of the invasion.
There is no official release date for "4:LOOP" as of press time. However, players may now add it to their wishlists on Steams and the PlayStation Store.
