Frozen 2 is coming out… sometime or other, and most of what’s going on with the much-anticipated sequel remains a huge mystery. But we just got a huge coup here, folks: Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, is officially on board for this thing. And considering Kristen Bell announced the entire movie on Twitter, it’s a safe bet that she’s in the movie, even though she’s not officially confirmed yet. Real question is… what’s Elsa’s deal in this movie? Is she going to meet someone?

Frozen ends on a pretty clear note, with no direct and obvious loose ends…. And yet with a number of threads for further pursuit. Anna and Prince Hans obviously are no longer an item, while Kristoff—clearly her S.O.—is still in the early stages of a relationship with the princess. That’s how things should be. Ambiguity and all that. You know how it is. That’s not the big mystery—sure, they will probably have some fights in Frozen 2, they’ll probably even break up for a while over some sort of fiddle-faddle, but that’s not what Frozen 2 is going to be about.

Arendelle is without an heir, and I suspect the Frozen 2 plot will revolve around that conflict. Elsa is, quite literally, an ice queen, and as of the end of Frozen…. She is alone, romantically speaking. It is the biggest open-ended question at the end of Frozen… Will Elsa be forever alone?

“Yes I’m alone, but I’m alone and free.” That is Elsa’s mantra in Frozen. And it is the biggest possible conflict in the Frozen 2 plot. Will she meet someone? Will she be willing to give up some of her freedom to not be alone? Will she find someone who can accept her for who she is? Honestly, when it comes right down to it, Frozen is about Anna more than Elsa. It’s about her coming out from her sister’s shadow and learning who she is. Elsa remains alone. And that conflict is by far the likeliest outlet for Frozen 2.

What do you think? Will Elsa meet someone? Should she?
