Freedom Planet 2 is Now Out on Consoles

A new adventure begins. XSEED Games

XSEED Games announced that Freedom Planet 2 is now available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch. It's priced at $24.99 though it's being offered at a 10% discount until April 10.

There's better news. For those who weren't able to get Freedom Planet, a new bundle being offered right now exclusively on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch. The bundle is available for $34.99 and has both Freedom Planet and Freedom Planet 2. It's also being offered at 10% off for a limited time. Meanwhile for those who already have Freedom Planet on the Nintendo Switch, they enjoy a permanent 10% Owner's Discount for Freedom Planet 2 on the same platform. This promotion starts April 11.

The console version of the game comes with all the features present in the original PC release. These include the expansive Adventure Mode along with the "Boss Rush" mode challenge. This should allow for a content-rich experience especially for fans of retro platforming.

Freedom Planet 2 is the sequel to the beloved action-platformer released back in 2014. This new title brings players back to the world of Avalice and fight against an ancient threat. It's set years after the events of the first game and sees the three returning heroes having their signature abilities being more refined, which makes them even more formidable.

For example, players take advantage of Lilac's speed with Dragon Boost. Those who want to reach new heights, so to speak, can check out Carol's Jump Disc. Finally, there's Milla's Shield, which is a good option for those who prefer a more measured approach. Did we mention that there's a new playable character named Neera who's not afraid to use her Frost Arts against enemies.

Here are some key features of the game:

  • More Ways to Play
    • Explore Avalice in Adventure mode and get to meet more than 100 NPCs along the way.
    • After saving the world, head straight into the action in Classic mode.
    • Challenge the fiercest of enemies in the new Boss Rush mode.
  • Heroines to the Rescue
    • Neera joins the bombastic cast of all-female protagonists.
    • Each one comes with their own unique abilities and perspective on a story reminiscent of a Saturday morning cartoon adventure.
  • The Brave and the Bold
    • Players can customize the difficulty with the new equippable item system that lets them change the rules of the game.
  • Fight Smarter, Live Longer
    • The new Guard button lets players parry enemy attacks.
    • The new Revival system lets players risk an extra life for a chance to make a comeback and eke out that tough victory.
