Fortnite is no stranger to crossover events. In Season 9, the mega-hit battle royale game introduced the John Wick crossover event, featuring iconic cosmetics of the Baba Yaga. We also recently had the second Avengers Limited Time Mode release right around the time Endgame hit theaters. This time around, Epic Games is launching a basketball-themed crossover event.

The game developer unveiled the Fortnite x Michael Jordan crossover on Wednesday. It is part of the studio’s latest update to the game, and it is officially called the FortniteXJumpman event. It features new skins wearing the coolest Jordan kicks, and a limited time mode called the Downtown Drop.

The new Fortnite crossover event brings two new outfits, namely, Grind and Clutch. Both of the outfits include Nike Air Jordan 1s in a variety of color combinations. These combinations, which include the popular colorways from the Bulls and Lakers, are based on NBA teams. This should give fans another reason to start making their characters ooze with coolness.

As for the Downtown Drop mode, it is said to be completely different from other modes in Fortnite. That is because the goal is to run through New York City-inspired streets and collect coins and/or items. So, in a sense, it is more than just the idea of eliminating the other 99 players in a match.

Also, the aforementioned mode offers its own set of challenges. Players will be asked to spray paint on sections of the street and walls, or collect a certain number of coins. Epic Games also introduced a good number of Downtown Drop challenges on Wednesday, although unlocking most of them will be done over the coming days.

Players who are able to complete these challenge will be rewarded with spray paint designs. Even more so, they can give their characters more style by obtaining Back Board Back Blings.

Apart from the new mode and skins, the update included Hot Spots. These are basically locations in Fortnite that will feature Loot Carriers containing high-end weapons. The game developer also revived the Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle, and made a couple of tweaks to the Combat Shotgun and Shadow Bomb. Moreover, the update comes with various fixes on all platforms.
