Mayhem is set to arrive in Fortnite and players need to prepare as inhabitants of Pandora have found their way to this world. Starting August 27 and until September 10, players get the chance to shoot and loot their way through the Pandora Rift Zone taking on themed Challenges for free rewards. Since there's going to be some mayhem, players need to look the part by picking up the Pyscho Bundle from the shop and fighting with Claptrap on their back.

Borderlands wreaks havoc in Fortnite with patch v10.20. You can view the announcement trailer below:

It's not all Mayhem however as the new patch introduces the Shield Bubble. Details of this weapon include:

  • Found from Floor Loot, Chests, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines.
  • Lasts for 30 seconds.
  • Creates a large bubble that blocks projectiles and explosives. However, players can still run through it.
    • Projectiles and explosives can be fired inside the bubble but cannot go outside of it.
    • The bubble’s emitter has 400 HP. Destroying it deactivates the bubble.

Another change has also been made to the B.R.U.T.E. which earlier had been nerfed. You can read more about that here.

In addition to the changes implemented to the B.R.U.T.E. between August 22-23, patch v10.20 now makes its map icon visible to all players after players go inside one. This same icon follows the vehicle as it moves. The reason for this change is to the increase awareness of the location and presence of the B.R.U.T.E. to all players currently in the match.

In terms of gameplay, these changes have been implemented with the latest patch.

  • Pandora
  • The Rift Beacon at the oasis near Paradise Palms has created the Pandora Rift Zone.
    • This new area is part of the Fortnite X Mayhem collab.
    • While the Rift Zone does resemble the planet Pandora, it’s more than just a model since even the planet's rules apply.
      • While at the Rift Zone, players start to generate Shield after 4 seconds of not taking damage.
    • Pandora is available until September 10.
  • Tilted Town
    • Tranversable paths have been added that connect the town to the surrounding hills.
      • This change was made to improve the experience in late-game circles that take place at Tilted Town.
  • Returned the time between subsequent Turbo Build placements from 0.05 seconds to 0.15.
    • This is intended to level the playing field regarding ping when it comes to turtling.
    • The first placement of a structure using Turbo Build remains the same.

Speaking of Pandora, Fortnite Creative allows players to recreate their favorite Borderlands setting.
