There’s been a lot of focus on The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, Legends crossover event, “Invasion!,” but midseason finales are also right around the corner. Supergirl is tonight, Nov. 28, but The Flash, Arrow and Legends mid season episodes air next week.

The Flash has the most amount of storyline to wrap up, but according to statements from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, what happens next won’t be so obvious. Season 3 is taking an unexpected turn toward a new villain instead of the characters just dealing with the aftermath of Flashpoint.

Last episode left off with the big reveal that Alchemy is indeed Julian Albert, but there’s definitely more to that story. The working relationship between Savitar and Alchemy remains to be seen. However, Kreisberg said there’s another villain in the mix.

"There's a villain coming up who's another one of the husk villains that was created by Alchemy, so there's that to deal with, but the midseason finale kind of creates a new problem for our heroes that they weren't anticipating -- something that they've never faced before," Kreisberg said according to ComicBook.com.

So what could this new problem be? It could be Savitar’s true agenda. It could also be related to the message Barry sent Rip Hunter from 2056. Maybe Killer Frost becomes 100% villain? Either of those arcs appear to be pretty serious from what we’ve been teased so far. Whatever the case, the threat will be revealed in Season 3 episode 9, “The Present.”

"And it's so big we're actually considering changing the saga sell from talking about Flashpoint to talking about that, because that's what's driving a lot of the episodes, actually. Flashpoint won't loom as large as the threat that presents itself in 309."

Take a look at the synopsis for Season 3 episode 9 below. Barry travels all the way to Earth-3 to seek advice from Jay Garrick. So whatever Savitar’s plan is, it’s scared Barry enough that he takes off during the holidays.

Barry heads for Earth-3 to get advice from Jay Garrick on how to stop Savitar; Wally tells Barry he's been training with H.R.; old wounds are reopened as Cisco faces Christmas without Dante.

What do you think the new threat could be? Let us know in the comments below! The Flash Season 3 episode 8, “Invasion!” airs Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m.
