The synopsis for The Flash Season 3 episode 9 suggests Barry will go right back to taking down Savitar and Alchemy after the four night Invasion! crossover event. There’s also another hero in the making, and Barry doesn’t seem to happy about it. The Flash spoilers ahead.

The Dec. 6 episode, “The Present,” celebrates Christmas, but Barry’s not in the spirit. He’s too worried about Alchemy and Savitar, so he decides to take matters into his own hands. He goes to find the original Flash, Jay Garrick, on Earth-3 to help. Meanwhile, Wally has been training with H.R. Wells.

The fact Alchemy and Savitar are still out there suggests they don’t have anything to do with the villains of the crossover event, The Dominators. With midseason approaching, we can expect things to start heating up with Savitar and Alchemy. Executive Producer Greg Berlanti revealed we will find out Alchemy’s real identity in the midseason finale, which could very likely be episode 9.

We’ll get a better idea of Alchemy’s agenda in Season 3 episode 7, when Caitlin attempts to take him down on her own, kidnapping Julian Dorn in the process. We’ll also see her battle both Vibe and The Flash as she unleashes her new powers. Though, it doesn’t seem like any of these efforts will bring Alchemy down if Barry travels all the way to Earth-3 on Christmas to ask for Jay Garrick’s his help. It’s unclear if the original Flash will come back to Central City, or just provide Barry with some advice. I personally would love to see Jay Garrick teach Barry some new tricks. He needs to learn something new to have an advantage against Savitar.

Speaking of speedsters, Wally training with H.R. could mean that Alchemy’s stone did give him his Flashpoint powers back. Last we saw Wally, he was trapped inside a cocoon and appeared to be going through transformation. However, that could all just be a tease, just like the particle accelerator explosion last season. If Wally didn’t get powers from Alchemy, there’s still the chance we’ll see him take on a larger role in Team Flash. He’s hell-bent on becoming a hero at whatever cost.

Check out the synopsis for Season 3 episode 9 below:

BARRY SEEKS HELP FROM JAY GARRICK — With Alchemy and Savitar still looming threats, Barry (Grant Gustin) is unable to focus on the Christmas holiday, and especially his relationship with Iris (Candice Patton). Determined to stop Savitar, Barry goes to Earth-3 to get advice from Jay Garrick (guest star John Wesley Shipp). Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) wants to help Barry fight Savitar and reveals that he’s been training with H.R. (Tom Cavanagh), which doesn’t go over well with Barry. As Cisco (Carlos Valdes) faces his first Christmas without his brother Dante (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez), old wounds are reopened.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
