Beautiful looking first-person puzzler The Sojourn will soon be making its way to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store, as announced by publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Shifting Tides.
The Sojourn tells the story of you, the player character, born in to a beautiful and pure land. But everything is not as it seems as darkness and evil is present in every crack and crevice that make up the foundation of the world you live in. It is up to you to open your eyes and uncover the hidden truth behind your almost perfect world.
The announcement of the game’s release date was accompanied by a two-minute trailer showcasing the beautifully rendered environment and graphics of the first-person puzzle title. Minimal gameplay mechanics have been revealed, but based on what has been uploaded to the internet so far, The Sojourn feels an awful lot like the Portal games, with you walking to and from each objective, going through a meticulous process of trial and error to pass a certain level.
The Sojourn is a self-described “thought provoking” first person puzzle game, wherein you will need to walk the thin line between the worlds of light and darkness to know the truth about the reality you grew up in. The game boasts dozens upon dozens of challenging puzzles, all within four beautifully crafted chapters that will have their own distinct style and atmosphere.
The game looks very pretty, and there’s a very serene tone that I associate it with. What’s left to see is if it can hold up on the puzzle front, but either way the environments and the art design looks fleshed out and well-developed to hold up even as just a walking simulator. Here’s hoping it can introduce some great challenges along the way.
The Sojourn will be released with support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portugese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese on September 20 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Currently, it is available for pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store for $9.99.
