Big news for fans of Final Fantasy XV : the PC version will launch on Windows in early 2018, featuring Nvidia Gameworks tech and other “advanced PC features” to up the graphics and physics levels. Final Fantasy XV on PC will also support capture and share tools from GeForce.

The PC version will run in both native 4K and 8K with HDR10 and a whole load of new graphic technologies, courtesy of Nvidia. These technologies make hair and fur look great, adds fluid, fire and smoke effects, make grass and plants look better and more. The game also comes with “a wealth of bonus content,” including all content included in free updates, the season pass DLC, and all of the Final Fantasy XV episodes as well as the Comrades expansion pack.

PC gamers can also enjoy a first-person mode. In a now-pulled YouTube description, the following specs were recommended:

  • Monitor: 4K HDR

  • CPU: Intel i7 3.4ghz or Ryzen 7 1700

  • GPU: GeForce 1080Ti

  • HDD: 170GB

These specs may be incorrect or subject to change, so take them with a grain of salt.

“With the help of Nvidia, we are creating a stunning visual experience in Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition , one worthy of this beloved franchise,” said Hajime Tabata, Director of Final Fantasy XV , in a press release. “NVIDIA pushes the pace of innovation in our industry, and that benefits gamers and developers alike.”

The following technology will be a part of Final Fantasy XV on PC:

  • NVIDIA Flow – creates vivid, combustible fluid, fire and smoke.

  • NVIDIA HairWorks – creates dynamic, life-like hair and fur for characters, animals and monsters that inhabit the game.

  • NVIDIA ShadowWorks – enables characters to cast shadows on themselves.

  • NVIDIA Turf Effects – creates life-like grass and vegetation in the game environment.

  • NVIDIA VXAO – adds depth and realism based on the physics principles shadows and light.

  • NVIDIA Ansel™, an in-game photography tool that allows gamers to compose shots from any position, adjust with post-process filters, capture HDR images in high fidelity formats, and share screenshots in 360 via a smartphone, PC or VR headset.

  • NVIDIA ShadowPlay™ Highlights automatically captures the player’s greatest gaming achievements in video and screenshot, enabling seamless sharing through social channels.

In our review, we praised Final Fantasy XV ’s combat and four main characters while critiquing its plot holes, the unwelcoming feeling of its linear later chapters and Luna’s lack of characterization.

“Noctis and bros absolutely belong in the Final Fantasy Heroes Gallery, and Final Fantasy XV belongs in this series,” we said.

The PC version will be an improved experience straight out of the gate, since it will ship with all the tweaks that came as a result of console player feedback such as New Game+, off-road Regalia and improvements to Chapter 13. Being able to jump into the DLC episodes right away is also a real treat, especially Episode Prompto .
