Publisher Devolver Digital (Enter the Gungeon, My Friend Pedro) and developer Mediatonic (Hatoful Boyfriend, Murder By Numbers) has just unveiled a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming 100-person battle royale party game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Along with this trailer release comes the announcement that Fall Guys is currently accepting sign-ups for a series of limited public beta tests before release.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a multiplayer battle royale party game that takes inspiration from physics-based games such as Human Fall Flat and Gang Beasts. The game’s mechanics and maps are highly reminiscent of the wacky Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle. Players are pitted against one another in multiple progressing rounds filled with bizarre obstacles, rowdy competitors, and inexplicable laws of physics. Ultimately, each game’s crown can only be claimed by those who are willing to stumble over and over towards greatness.
Other key features for Fall Guys can be read from the game’s Steam page, including diving into a series of ridiculous challenges and wild obstacle courses with masses of other competitors online, all with the hopes of making the cut and advancing to the next round of mayhem. The game also includes competitive and cooperative elements, shifting between competitive free-for-alls and cooperative challenges where the losing team all get eliminated.
The battles themselves get extremely comical and physical, as your fellow competitors bend, bounce, and bash their way to hilarious, physics-based failure. You can also fail in style with everything from fashionable pineapple couture to the latest in bunny hats available to customize your look.
As for the game’s upcoming public beta tests, up to 60 players will be able to participate in randomized rounds of mini-games with colorful names such as “Door Dash,” “Tip Toe,” “Hex-A-Gone,” “Tail Tag,” “Hit Parade,” “Egg Hunt,” and “Fall Mountain.”
No release date has been confirmed yet for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, but its Steam page lists that it has a planned release date during this Summer. The comedic free-for-all brawl will launch for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
