While we knew Fable Legends was getting cancelled, the fate of developer Lionhead Studios was not yet decided. As of Friday though, the studio is no more.

"We can confirm that after much consideration over the six week consultation period with Lionhead employees, we have reached the decision to close Lionhead Studios, Microsoft said in a statement to Eurogamer. “We have nothing but heart-felt thanks for the team at Lionhead for their significant contributions to Xbox and the games industry."

It’s always a sad day to see a game development studio get shut down. It hurts even more when the studio in question is as legendary as Lionhead. Founded back in 1996 by Peter Molyneux, Lionhead was very influential in the PC and Xbox scene. Creating such classics as Black & White and the Fable franchise, Lionhead will be fondly remembered for its contribution to gaming.

iDigitalTimes would like to extend the best of luck to those affected by the closing.

So what do you think? Are you sad to see Lionhead get shut down? Do you wish you could have tried out Fable Legends? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
