'Epic Card Game' App Kickstarter Now Live, Already Halfway Funded

Epic Card Game will soon be playable on your mobile device, as Epic Digital’s Kickstarter campaign has started and is already doing really well. In fact, the project is already over halfway funded.

Epic Card Game plays very similarly to Magic: The Gathering. The big difference is the number of cards for Epic is much lower than for Magic. This allows players to stay on a much more even playing field, as you don’t need to dump hundreds of dollars into a deck, only to be competitive for a few months until some cards become too old for standard.

Just like White Wizard Games’ Star Realms before it, Epic is now getting a digital version to play on the go. What’s even more surprising is this could be one of the fastest turnarounds for a Kickstarter project. If you pledge at the $25 or above tier, you’ll be getting access to Epic Digital’s alpha starting next month.

According to the project’s page, most everything is already working, so players will be able to play many of the basic modes starting in March. The modes coming in the alpha include:

  • Unlimited Copies of all 120 Cards in the Base Set

  • No Random Packs (Get a set for one low price and own every card!)

  • Purchase Once, Unlocks On All Four Platforms

  • Single Player Campaign Mode

  • Tutorial

  • Online Asynchronous Play

  • Dark Draft

  • Random 30 (Sealed)

  • Constructed

  • Beginner Decks (AKA Preconstructed Decks)

  • Deck Builder

  • Challenge Friends

  • Play Against Random Epic Players Around the World

The features planned for the beta release are:

  • Online Real-time Play

  • Friends List

  • Ranked Heads-up Games

  • Leagues

  • Tournaments

  • World Championship Qualifiers

  • Unlimited Copies of all 48 Cards in the Tyrants Expansion

  • Unlimited Copies of all 48 Cards in the Uprising Expansion

  • In-app Currency (Event Tickets)

  • Cosmetic Upgrades (Alt-Art Cards, Avatars, Digital Playmats)

  • Campaign Upgrades (Additional Maps, Character Abilities, Etc.)

  • And More (The best ideas from you, our backers, will be added as app features!)

The game will be available for PC, Mac, iOS and Android. If Epic Digital is like Star Realms, then the game will be cross-platform compatible across all devices. Also, getting one version of Epic Digital will unlock the game on all platforms.

If you’d rather wait until Epic Digital is released in full, the launch is scheduled for fall 2017. A more concrete release date will be getting revealed as development continues.
