It has been a while since we got an interesting Metroidvania with a unique setting and premise. 2019 saw Blasphemous, which set the bar rigidly high for the genre with is unrepentantly vicious art style and great gameplay. For 2020, Binary Haze Interactive looks to match that release with its own take on the saturated genre, this time making heavy use of atmosphere and music to bring to life the intriguing game called Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights will be launching for consoles and PC via Steam this winter, published by Binary Haze Interactive and developed by sister companies Live Wire and Adglobe. The announcement came with a short teaser trailer showing off what we can expect from the Metroidvania, which you can check out below.

The first thing to hit you in the teaser is that ominous, yet oddly soothing soundtrack from none other than the musical group Mili, who is best known for their work on rhythm games. The group composed 19 tracks for Deemo including “Night Point Eight” and five for Cytus including “Chocological.” Outside of video games, the group is also known for “Rightfully,” the opening theme for Goblin Slayer – which is a fantastic anime, might I add.

Outside of the music, the teaser introduces the main character for Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights: Lily, the last surviving priestess in a land tormented by an endless rain that is turning people undead. While the teaser did not explicitly state so, it would seem that she has the power to summon spirits of the undead to protect her from the many dangers of this world as she embarks on a journey to find the source of the rain. It is an interesting idea on paper, and the art style is well-crafted to go along with that great soundtrack.

Binary Haze Interactive has also announced language options for English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Korean, Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Russian. Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is also expected to be the first of three collaborative efforts between Adglobe and Live Wire, and the other two titles will be revealed next year.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is set to be released for consoles and PC via Steam in Winter 2020.
