Eight Dota 2 teams are ready to fight it out for a chance to join the last Major of the DPC Season. To do so, the teams must get to the top two spots at the upcoming StarLadder Ukraine Minor.

For the StarLadder Ukraine Minor tournament, a total of eight teams were given the chance to participate, with team regions divided as follows:

  • Europe : 2 teams
  • China : 2 teams
  • North America: 1 team
  • CIS: 1 team
  • Southeast Asia: 1 team
  • South America: 1 team

The tournament is scheduled for June 12 to June 16. The prize pool is $300,000 with the top team getting $125,000. In addition, 500 Pro Circuit points are up for grabs, with 120 points going to the tournament champion. However, the more important reward for the teams is the chance to join the EPICENTER Major. For this tournament, the top two teams in the Minor get that chance.

For the Europe region, two teams dominated their region’s qualifiers. Alliance and Ninjas in Pyjamas took the top spot after the Group Stage. The two teams beat their respective opponents 2-0 and met in the Winner’s Finals. NiP w0n 2-0, dropping Alliance to the Lower Bracket. That was no problem for Alliance, as the team defeated The Final Tribe 2-0.

In the China region, EHOME got another chance for glory as it grabbed the first of two slots for the region. In a surprise result, newly formed Team Sirius took the second slot, beating Keen Gaming 2-1.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Asia region slot goes to powerhouse Mineski. In the qualifiers, the team faced Power of MYSG+AU twice. In both instances, Mineski swept their opponents. In the upper bracket finals, Mineski beat Power of MYSG+AU again, both in under 30 minutes. The two met again in the Grand Finals and Mineski again won 2-0.

Under the CIS region, Natus Vincere had a chance to get the top spot. NaVi beat Team Empire 2-0, but fell to Winstrike Team 1-2.

The North America region was a bit more exciting with Complexity, J.Storm, and beastcoast vying for the one slot. The qualifier served as a sad ending for beastcoast, as the team was swept by J.Storm in the first round of the Upper Bracket and then again later in the Lower Bracket Finals.

A surprise result came from the South America region. Team Anvorguesa initially lost to Gorillaz-Pride 0-2 in the Upper Bracket. However, Anvorguesa beat EgoBoys and then Thunder Predator in the Lower Bracket Finals. Anvorguesa played against Gorillaz-Pride again, but this time the team did not falter and Anvorguesa claimed the South America spot.
