Evil Geniuses surprised the Dota 2 pro scene when it decided to changes it core roster today, shuffling both Gustav “S4” Magnusson and Syed “SumaiL” Hassan. The “Bleed Blue” boys welcome new faces to its organization.

After spending a good two season run with Fnatic, Abed Yusop is taking his talents to EG and will play the two position rule. Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, on the other hand, leaves Virtus Pro to play as the team’s offlaner.

EG is releasing S4 immediately, while SumaiL is being kept under contract as he starts exploring available transfer options. This means that S4 is now a free agent and SumaiL is already open for possible transfer talks.

“First, it is prudent to discuss our departures,” EG said in a press statement. “We are releasing Gustav “s4” Magnusson into free agency, and Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan will remain under contract and be open to transfer talks. Both have earned an incredible amount of respect and appreciation here at EG for their results and the effort they’ve put into the team; they are top-flight talents, and we’re confident that they will find themselves surrounded by capable teammates.”

Here’s EG’s new lineup for this season’s Dota Pro Circuit:

  • Artour “Arteezy” Babaev – Carry
  • Abed “Abed” Azel L. Yusop – Mid
  • Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev – Offlane
  • Andreas “Cr1t” Nielsen – Support
  • Tal “Fly” Aizik – Support
  • Sam “Bulba” Sosale – Coach
  • Wilson “Fronz” Teng – Manager

Interestingly, this surprising move from EG was already predicted by a Reddit user a week after The International 2019 concluded. According to the user, EG was not really satisfied with S4’s lacklustre play on the main stage. It is also believed that a brewing turmoil between the players was going to influence the organization to choose between SumaiL or Arteezy.

As of this writing, it remains unclear as to where SumaiL will be headed. There are talks about him playing together with his brother Yawar “Yawar” Hassan, who is still with Newbee. EG’s roster shuffle follows another surprising reveal from Team Liquid, with all five members deciding to leave the organization in hopes of forming their own esports organization.
