The Playoffs for the Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore are off to a good start as two teams have moved forward to the Upper Bracket Finals. Gambit Esports and Evil Geniuses swept their respective opponents 2-0 and will now face each other to determine who goes to the Grand Finals.

Alliance vs Gambit

In a previous article, we predicted that Gambit would win this match-up and we were right. Gambit won both games just below the 40-minute mark. In the first game, Gambit dominated the match with Kiyalbek "dream`" Tayirov and Danil "gpk" Skutin getting seven kills each with gpk having zero deaths at the end. The story was pretty much the same in the second game with dream` getting 11 kills and one death while gpk had eight kills and again had zero deaths.

Evil Geniuses vs Team Secret

In this match-up we got our predictions wrong. We went for Secret, considering that they were known to be the team that could adapt to the meta faster. However it is worth noting that the team announced a new roster back in November. Yeik Nai " MidOne" Zheng was removed from active status and replaced with Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen. To be fair, Evil Geniuses also had a roster change after The International 9.

Going to the match, it looked as if Secret had problems answering the combination of Artour "Arteezy" Babaev and Abed "Abed" Yusop. In the first game, Arteezy had 10 kills while Abed had 9. Both players only had one death each. The second game finished in around 21 minutes with Arteezy and Abed again scoring good performances.

Upcoming Matches

For the upcoming matches, the first one starts on December 19 at 10:00 PM. In this competition we get to see Virtus.pro versus Natus Vincere with the winner then facing off against Alliance. Meanwhile, the second match has Vici Gaming versus TNC Predator, with the winner going against Team Secret.

The final match of the day is the Upper Bracket Finals of Gambit versus EG. Both teams are guaranteed at least a third place finish with the winner going to the Grand Finals. For this match, we predict it will go the distance with EG eventually getting the win. Like with the match against Secret, EG is likely going to bank on the performances of Arteezy and Abed.
