Dota 2 MDL Chengdu Major Team Roster Almost Complete

A total of 15 Dota 2 teams are ready to fight it out in the upcoming MDL Chengdu Major. This is the first Major of the new 2019-20 DPC Season and is set to start November 16. At stake is a prize pool of $1 million and the all important 15,000 DPC Points.

Only one more team will be entered into the Major, and this is the winner of the DPC Minor Dota Summit 11.

The 15 teams that are confirmed to take part in this tournament made their way through their respective region's qualifiers. The teams are:

Tournament Format

The tournament follows the typical format, with the teams divided into four GSL groups and all games are played with a best-of three structure. The top two teams move forward to the Upper Bracket with the bottom two advancing to the Lower Bracket. In the Playoffs, teams play in a double elimination bracket. The first round of the Lower Bracket is a sudden death best-of one format, with the other games using the best-of three style. The Grand Finals meanwhile are played as best-of five.

Dota Summit 11

The Dota Summit 11 is the first Minor of the new season with the winner qualifying to the MDK Chengdu Major. The games are going to be held from November 7 to 10 in Los Angeles. A total of eight teams are fighting to get a large chunk of the $300,000 prize pool and 600 DPC Points. Of course the more important prize is the slot to the Major.

The slots per region are:

  • CIS: 2
  • Europe: 2
  • China: 1
  • Southeast Asia: 1
  • North America: 1
  • South America: 1

The qualifiers for the Dota Summit 11 have already started. If you're a long-time fan of Dota 2 then there are two teams you need to watch out for:

  • Quincy Crew (North America)
    • This teams marks the team-up of brothers Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan and Yawar "YawaR" Hassan. SumaiL was put on inactive status by Evil Geniuses with YawaR joining the team from Newbee.
    • The rest of the members are Quinn "CCnC" Callahan, Arif "MSS" Anwar, and Avery "SVG" Silverman.
  • Geek Fam (Southeast Asia)
    • This team marks the reunion of former TNC members Marc Polo Luis "Raven" Fausto and Carlo "Kuku" Palad.
    • This serves as Kim "DuBU" Doo-young's return to competitive Dota 2 after serving as Fnatic's coach.
    • Rounding of the team are Eric "Ryoya" Dong and Kenny "Xepher" Deo.
