As the hype from Dota 2 Stockholm Major winds down, Valve dropped some news to surely make fans in Southeast Asia happy. That’s because The International 2022 is happening in Singapore. While no specific dates have been announced, the tournament is coming this October.

This news was revealed by Valve through the official Dota 2 Twitter account.

Tight Schedule

With three Majors scheduled for the new 2021-2022 DPC season, it’s going to be tight for a lot of teams, particularly those still hoping to enter the Top 12. With the Stockholm Major officially done, that means the third Major could be in July or August. After that, teams need to prepare for the TI Qualifiers, which might be likely in September.

Direct Invites

Based on the rankings, it’s safe to say that from beastcoast up to PSG.LGD has a high likelihood of getting a direct invite. For the teams on the lower half, if they qualify for the third Major, there’s a big chance they could score direct invites as well.

SA Dota

What is interesting is that if beastcoast and Thunder Awaken get direct invites, two additional South American teams will join TI through the Qualifiers. If this happens, the SA region would have four teams. A truly big improvement compared to what the region was before.

Dota 2 is available on PC.
