Day One of Dota 2's The International 2019 is done and leading their groups are Team Secret and Vici Gaming. For Group A, Secret beat three teams without giving up any game to lead 3-0. Meanwhile in Group B, it is VG that has the honor of being on top.

Group A

To get the top spot in the Group, Secret had to play against three teams. What makes it amazing is that Secret was undefeated in all three matches.

The first match was against Alliance and was the first of the tournament. In the first game, it was all Alliance banking on the performance of Michael "miCKe" Vu and Maximilian "qojqva" Bröcker. However, a team fight at around the 40-minute mark proved to be disastrous for Alliance. All Alliance team members died with Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng on his Broodmother picking up a triple kill. Secret attempted a GG push, but Alliance used their buybacks to defend and force Secret out. Alliance attacked and got the mega creeps. However, another fight again went the way of Secret after which Secret attacked and won the game. Exciting as the first game was, the second match was Secret all the way. Ending just below 22 minutes, Secret scored 20 kills versus eight for Alliance.

The second match was against Newbee and both games went the distance to almost one hour. For the first game, the advantage went back and forth with Secret eventually getting the upper hand and winning. The second game was somewhat bit similar to the first game, with Newbee getting the initial advantage. Secret again found a way to shift the balance and never looked back.

Secret's third match was against Team Liquid and surprisingly both games finished fast. In the first game, MidOne took the lead in kills on his Ember Spirit. The second game's kill leader was Michal "Nisha" Jankowski on his Slark.

In the top four with Secret are PSG.LGD, TNC Predator, and Mineski. Chaos Esports Club sits on the bottom for Group A.

Group B

Group B had fewer games than Group A, but that doesn't mean that the matches weren't as exciting.

The first match for the Group featured VG going against Royal Never Give Up. The first game was close in terms of team kills. VG secured the win, especially after a fight that saw two of RNG's heroes dying, using buyback, and then dying again. The second game was shorter with RNG unable to find an answer to Zhang "Paparazi" Chengjun on his Gyrocopter.

The second match for VG was versus Fnatic. In the first game, Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang dominated on his Storm Spirit, ending the game with 18 kills. The second game wasn't as easy, as Fnatic put up a good fight. However, it ultimately went the way of VG with the game taking just a little under an hour.

In the top four with VG are OG, Virtus.pro, and Fnatic. Currently at the bottom are Infamous and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
