The stage for The International 2020 has been fully set as Dota 2 revealed the complete list of remaining Major tournaments for the season. Overall there's going to be a total of five Majors and five accompanying Minors. One Major has already been completedm and another is scheduled for January.

Format

Before we reveal the Major tournaments, let's take a quick peek into the format. One of the biggest changes for the 2019-2020 DPC Season is that there's going to be no more direct invites to the Majors. That means all Dota 2 teams need to fight for a spot through the qualifiers. However, getting in the Majors is a big deal already as they offer a prize pool of $1 million with 15,000 total DPC points. The winner of each major gets $300,000 and a whopping 4,850 points.

Meanwhile, the accompany Minors offer the winner $72,000, 140 points, and a spot in the Major. It's worth noting that the actual points the Minor champion gets is dependent on their place in the Major. Specifically, they get points from the event that gives them the higher value. For example, suppose a team that wins a Minor places last in the Major. Since last place is 100 DPC points, the team instead gets the 140 points from the Minor. However, if the team places first, they only get 4850 and forfeit the 140 points from the Minor.

A total of 16 teams get the chance to compete in each of the Majors, while only eight teams get another shot with the Minors. The points are important, since the top 12 teams receive direct invites to The International 2020. The rest need to go through their respective Regional Qualifiers, with only one team qualifying per region.

MDL Chengdu Major

The first Major was held last November in Chengdu, China. A number of top teams made the decision not to participate in this one, opening the doors for some new teams. However it was TNC Predator that took the win over Vici Gaming. You can read about TNC's win here.

DreamLeague Season 13
