The Hideo Kojima world tour announces its next stop, this time bringing the game director to San Diego Comic-Con 2019. As is customary with other Hideo Kojima tours, he’s bringing with him a friend, this time notable auteur director Nicolas Winding Refn, who plays a starring role in Kojima’s highly-anticipated next project, Death Stranding.

While the full details and other whatnot of his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this year are not available, Kojima did tweet out the announcement, along with a picture of him with Nicolas Winding Refn. Check it out below.

It’s still up for debate if he talks about Death Stranding, though. Kojima’s last appearance was with actor Norman Reedus at the Tribeca Film Festival, but, contrary to what was expected, there were very few tidbits dropped about his upcoming game. It is worth noting that San Diego Comic-Con is one of the last big events where Hideo Kojima can talk more about Death Stranding before its eventual release on November 8 later this year. As expansive as the last trailer/reveal was for Death Stranding, the game is still largely shrouded in mystery.

Weirdly enough, his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con may have something to do with his appearance in Nicolas Winding Refn’s currently airing TV series, Too Old to Die Young, which is available now on Amazon Prime Video. Hideo Kojima appeared in a short role in Episode 4 of that series, in which he played a high-ranking Yakuza member chopping off a finger from a man who owed his group. Watch the clip below.

It’s notable how Kojima’s next project is loaded with actual film industry members like Lea Seydoux, the notable French actress and Palme d’Or winner. Before his relations with Konami fell through, Kojima was supposed to head the Silent Hills project, which would see him collaborate with Academy Award winning director Guillermo del Toro. Del Toro also has a starring role in Death Stranding, as a character known as Deadman.

Death Stranding will also star, of course, Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lindsay Wagner, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker and Tommie Earl Jenkins.

Death Stranding will be released on November 8, 2019, for the PlayStation 4.
