Dead Space was first released in 2008 and this new title is a remake of that game. It's been rebuilt from the ground up using the Frostbite game engine. While it remains faithful to the vision of the original game, this remake comes with enhanced audio and crisp and harrowing visuals.

Other key gameplay improvements include:

  • An Enhanced Engineering Fantasy
    • The experience has been enhanced with protagonist Isaac getting an updated suit and upgraded arsenal that features more detailed tools with improved effects and functionalities.
    • Gunner Wright not only reprises his role as the voice of Isaac but is also now the in-game face of the character.
  • A Fully Interconnected Ishimura
    • From the start screen to end credits, players get confronted with frighteningly tight corridors and shadowed hallways of the USG Ishimura without a single load screen or camera cut ever breaking the immersion.
    • This mining ship has been restored for the remake by offering new rooms, routes, and obstacles while making sure that there's seamless exploration with new UI map controls and an improved locator.
  • The Intensity Director
    • The game offers a beautifully crafted and equally haunting world where players can lose themselves and truly feel the weight of every mysterious step Isaac takes.
    • The new Intensity Director dynamically adjusts what shows up in Isaac’s path as he explores both new and old areas of the USG Ishimura.
    • From Necromorph spawns to environmental effects such as light, smoke, particles, and sound, each players' experience is sure to be unique.
    • Isaac’s heartbeat, breathing, and exertions have been adjusted as well based on his stress level to let players receive direct feedback into his mental, emotional, and physical states.
  • The Peeling System
    • Necromorphs, monstrosities unlike anything seen before, have been reconstructed around the new Peeling System.
      • This allows players to interact with layered flesh, tendons, and bones in new ways during combat.
    • Strategy is key and players get to experience increased opportunities for decision-making in how they utilize their unique weapons and abilities to combat these horrifying enemies.

Are you ready to face the horrors of space?
