What’s it like to be an ordinary person in a world of superheroes? Yes, another live-action superhero show is coming to network television. This time, we can at least give NBC a little credit for spicing things up with their newest venture titled ‘Powerless,’ a new 30-minute, single-camera DC Comics comedy series. Early reports claim the show will have the same vibe as comedies like The Office and Community . Instead of a Dunder Mifflin paper company or Greendale community college, this show will be set at RetCon insurance.

Interestingly enough, ‘RetCon’ stands for retroactive continuity, which means past events in a storyline have changed to make the present. In other words, reframing or adding to the outcome of past events to make the current storyline make sense. The leaked set photos confirm DC Comics Justice Leaguer, Crimson Fox, will appear in the pilot episode. Other known cast members include Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi (Community) or Alan Tudyk (Firefly), and Christina Kirk ( A to Z ). At this point, it’s unclear who is playing the role of Crimson Fox.

Vanessa Hudgens ( High School Musical, Sucker Punch ) will star as Emily Locke, a claims adjuster who loves helping people. She’s not happy with the destruction superheroes cause in Charm City. In the set photos above, Crimson Fox is holding a blue box which according to the pilot script, is a train car. The pilot script pens a battle between Crimson Fox and Jack O’Lantern, but also mentions Aquaman. However, there’s no evidence of his physical appearance in the episode. Since ‘Powerless’ seems to be a spinoff hanging by just one string, it’s safe to say you shouldn't expect any major DC Comics superheroes, like Batman or Superman, take the spotlight. But who knows, if Aquaman is written into future episodes that would be his first appearance in a live action series.

Comic news site Bleeding Cool claimed to have gotten their hands on a the pilot script and described the episode as “ fun and snappy.” One of the scenes reportedly has a character named Jackie who the author pegged saying, “‘I want to nail Aquaman so hard’ while reading a People Magazine with Aquaman on the cover in a cubical covered in beefcake magazine cutouts of DC superheroes…” The script also mentions Big Belly Burger, a fast-casual referenced by Arrow and The Flash in Star City and Central City respectively.

In the comics, Crimson Fox is a twin. Vivian D'Aramis and Constance D'Aramis have superhuman speed, agility, and emit a mystical energy that make them irresistible to men. For that reason, Crimson Fox wears gloves with sharp steel talons.

According to the photographer who tweeted the set photos of Crimson Fox, the pilot episode was filmed in downtown Vancouver, Canada. NBC has not set a release date.
