As we start with October, Activision and Beenox have announced the latest Grand Prix Season for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The Spooky Grand Prix brings new characters, a new track, and even a new challenge type. There is also going to be some big gameplay changes coming.

New Crew

It wouldn't be a new season without new characters. This time you get to meet the trio of Nina Cortex, Dr. N. Brio, and Komodo Moe. Nina makes her way to the tracks with the Nitro Gauge while Brio and Komode can be found in the Pit Stop.

Nina's Nightmare

What better way to be part of the new Grand Prix than to go through the dark corners of Nina Cortex's mind. In the new track Nina's Nightmare, players go through eerie gardens, misty marshes, and the twisted hallways of a haunted manor. If you want to be on top you need to dodge the pumpkins that are spitting green ooze as they can surely slow you down to a stop. Be careful when you travel through the twisted hallways and don't be crushed by the spider-pumpkin.

Ghost Hunt

For this season, get the chance to earn new rewards by completing challenges. During the Spooky Grand Prix, when you break certain crates you release a mischievous ghost that has long been trapped inside. You need to capture the ghost to complete the challenge. The more ghosts flying around, the more challenges you can complete.

Driving Styles

As mentioned, a gameplay change is set to be introduced with this new update. For those who have been asking for it, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled now has Swapping Driving Styles. That's right, it is now possible to choose the Driving Style you want no matter which character you choose. This means you can have both your favorite racer and favorite style.

In addition, you can now use the "Drift" driving style. This makes the total number of driving styles to choose from pumped up to five. The existing Driving Styles have been renamed to better describer their function:

  • Beginner is now Turn
  • Intermediate A is now Balanced
  • Intermediate B is now Acceleration
  • Advanced is now Speed
