The Civilization 6 team has shared gameplay details for Germany , led by Frederick Barbarossa. Check out the video below for more details on the Germans in Civ 6 :

Barbarossa, who served as King of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor for nearly 40 years, provides an additional military policy slot for government and gives his units a bonus in combat against city-state units. According to a 2K Games press release, “His heroism earned him legendary status in German folklore, in which it is said he sleeps in the Kyffhauser Mountain and will return to bring Germany to a golden age.”

Germany as a civ has a Free Imperial Cities bonus that gives its cities one more District than its population would normally allow.

The German Unique District is the Hansa, an Industrial Zone replacement that gets bonus production if placed next to a Commercial Hub, additional adjacent districts, or resources. On Germany’s page, the Hansa is described as “a confederation of medieval German merchants [that] brought trading communities together to protect their economic interests... The Hansa allowed the formation of armies that ensured defense against piracy and other dangers relevant to trading routes.”

Their Unique Unit is the U-Boat, a modern-era naval unit that has a low production cost and gets a bonus fighting in deep ocean.

Germany as a civ is heavily focused on production, but its military capabilities make Germany a dangerous foe to cross.

We have the gameplay details for Scythia, Japan, Egypt and the United States of America, along with their new leaders’ unique bonuses. We also know about China, England, France and Egypt. There’s even a pre-order bonus: the Aztecs, led by Montezuma I. You can pre-order Civilization 6 here.

What civ do you hope we get the details on next? Let us know in the comments section below.
