Cities: Skylines Launching Hotels and Retreats May 23

A new expansion is coming soon to Cities: Skylines and it’s the last one. Titled Hotels & Retreats, it allows players not only to build luxury accommodations but also tourist attractions to improve the economy of their city. Before unlocking more specialized accommodations, they will start with a small hotel chain. This upcoming expansion launches May 23.

In a statement, Colossal Order CEO Mariina Hallikainen shared that the reveal of this expansion is a bittersweet moment for them. She added that the game has always been about giving players the power to build cities that they want, and this upcoming expansion is one of those that give the final tools and options for just that. Hallikainen went on to say that they would like to thank their dedicated community of players for both feedback and support across the years.

Here are the key features in Hotels & Retreats:

  • Hotel Buildings
    • Add new buildings like hostels, cabins, hotels, and luxurious resorts.
  • Hotel Management
    • Start with one-star hotels and unlock new options as the business revenue and popularity booms.
  • Tourism Buildings
    • New structures are available to support hotels including parks, restaurants, playgrounds, and cafès.
  • Location
    • Matching hotels with good locations is important.
    • Different locations attract different tourist groups.
    • Five new maps added for hotels:
      • Three European-inspired maps.
      • One tropical map.
      • One temperate map.

New Content Packs

In addition to the Hotels & Retreats expansion, there are also new content creator packs launching on the same date, including:

  • Industrial Evolution (from Community Creator Samantha “Avanya” Woods)
    • Includes a new set of growable buildings which span different eras of industrial building styles, from red brick walls to modern, sleek industrial complexes.
    • Comes with a total of 70 new buildings inspired by both historic and contemporary industrial buildings.
  • Railroads of Japan (from Content Creator Ryuichi Kaminogi)
    • Adds authentic Japanese railroad scenery to the game with stations, trains, and buses.
    • Watch your citizens travel using the metro, bus, and railroad.
    • Decorate commutes with networks, props, and police stations.
  • Brooklyn & Queens (from Content Creator Prosper)
    • Offers a set of medium-rise high-density residential buildings.
    • Adds props inspired by the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens for decorating the city’s facade and rooftops.
    • Includes more than 60 growable buildings and props like rental signs, window air conditioners, exhaust fans, and stairways.

New Radio Stations

New radio stations are also arriving alongside the expansion and content creator packs on the same day. These are:

  • Piano Tunes Radio
    • The perfect radio station for those who love whimsical and elegant piano music.
    • Offers 16 songs and approximately one hour of music.
  • 90’s Pop Radio
    • Return to some 20th century classics with "90’s Pop."
    • Enjoy 16 new tracks and almost one hour of music.

Cities: Skylines is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
