There are a few video games franchises that might miss a year or two between their releases. But it sure as heck ain’t gonna be Call of Duty. COD has never missed a year since the release of Call of Duty 2 back in 2005. If the recent rumors are accurate, then we are getting at least two new AAA COD games in the next two years.

The Leak

A very well-known leaker, Tom Henderson, has revealed new information about the 2033 Call of Duty. Henderson is known for leaking accurate information about both COD and BF franchises. His recent rumors about Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty Vanguard came true.

2023 Call of Duty

He recently replied to a tweet by Charlie Intel, where he mentioned that the 2023 Call of Duty will be in semi-future settings. It will also feature boots on the grounds gameplay, meaning that it won’t have exosuits like in Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3.

2022 Call of Duty

That’s not all. Henderson has also revealed updates on next year’s Call of Duty. According to him, 2022 COD is being developed by Infinity Ward, and it will be a sequel to Modern Warfare (2019). You can check out our previous article for more information.

Other Semi-Future Military Games

The last Call of Duty that was set in a semi-future setting was Black Ops 2. BO2 was released back in 2012, and half of the game took place in 2025.

The upcoming Battlefield game is also set in a semi-future setting. The game takes place in 2042 where climate change has created political turmoil in the world. Millions of climate refugees have banded together and have formed No-Pat (short for No Patriot), a group loyal to no nation with a single motive, to survive. We will love it if the 2023 Call of Duty game can top such an intriguing plot.

So what do you think? Are you interested in a semi-futuristic Call of Duty? Or do you want them to stay in the Cold War era? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
