The Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout has now begun for BlackBerry Priv handsets. The manufacturer announced Tuesday that unlocked models purchased at ShopBlackBerry.com are now eligible to receive the latest Google operating system.

The update is hitting BlackBerry Priv unlocked models wirelessly, taking them from Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. If users haven’t received a notification for the update, they can check for it manually by accessing Settings>About>System update>Check for update.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was originally supposed to roll out in early April; however, the delay remains unexplained. The BlackBerry Priv is also available through carriers including Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T. These networks will begin sending out the Marshmallow update May 3; however, specific rollout dates may vary by carrier.

In addition to the features the Priv will gain with Android 6.0, BlackBerry has also introduced tweaks and upgrades of its own, including updates to the BlackBerry Keyboard and the BlackBerry Launcher.

The Priv is now one of only 4.6 percent of Android devices running Android Marshmallow, according to BlackBerry.
