Those looking for a new first-person shooter experience now have that chance with the Battlefield 2042 Early Access. There’s a catch since this is only available for those who pre-ordered the game's Gold and Ultimate Editions. By the way, EA Play Pro members can also enjoy the experience.

The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. This game, however, has two main differences compared to other games in the series. The first is the lack of a single-player campaign. The second is cross-platform support, a first in the franchise.

Gameplay Modes

Battlefield 2042 has three main gameplay modes. The first is All-Out Warfare which has:

  • Conquest
    • This massive and iconic sandbox mode makes a return but this time supports 128 players on PC.
    • The maps have been designed for this scale, divided into various “clusters.”
    • Action now centers around sectors consisting of several flags, instead of individual control points.
  • Breakthrough
    • Two teams, which are Attackers and Defenders, fight over larger-scale sectors.
    • Each sector has been designed to house a large number of players, enabling more strategic choice and more flanking opportunities.

Then there is the Battlefield Portal, which is a community-driven platform that allows players to change the rules. The possibilities are truly endless since a lot of things can be customized like weapons, gear, and even rules. This creative sandbox mode lets players replay classic experiences from Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 3, or Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Finally, Battlefield Hazard Zone has that edge-of-your-seat gameplay and mixes it with the Battlefield sandbox. Players are inserted as a four-member squad where they need to find and retrieve critical Data Drives scattered across the battlefield. However, it won’t be easy since there are opposing squads that also have the same objective.

The game is coming out on November 19 priced at $59.99. The Gold Edition comes in at $89.99 while the Ultimate Edition is offered at $109.99.
