"Avatar" fans have a lot to be excited about because a fighting game based on the franchise is set for release next year.

The game, which has the working title "Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game," was announced during the New York City Comic Con.

It will be released in the summer of 2026.

'Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game'

According to a report by Engadget, the game will be developed by Gameplay Group International. A trailer has been released as part of the announcement, which can be viewed below.

The "Avatar" game, which already has a Steam listing, will reportedly feature 12 characters at launch. More will be added on a seasonal basis. The Steam listing also includes some images from the game.

Aside from Steam, the game will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2.

As of press time, no further details have been revealed by the developer. Since the game is currently in development, it is important to note that many aspects may still change, including its working title.

The 'Avatar' Franchise

"Avatar: The Last Airbender" has become one most of the beloved multimedia franchises is the last couple of years.

Aside from the animated series of the same name, the franchise also includes other animated shows like "The Legend of Korra" and even live action adaptations.

"Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game" is just the latest addition to the list of video games based on "Avatar."

The first game under the franchise, also called "Avatar: The Last Airbender," was released in 2006 and followed by other games such as "Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno."
