The next Assassin’s Creed game could be called Assassin’s Creed Dynasty. This information comes from a post on PlayStation Universe, but should be treated as a rumor until Ubisoft makes an official statement.

According to PlayStation Universe, this information comes from a source at Bangalore-based animation studio Technicolor. The source claims to be currently working on the new Assassin’s Creed game. Technicolor has worked with Ubisoft in the past, so there could be some truth to the rumor. However, that’s the end of the information PlayStation Universe was given.

From here, it’s been speculated by PlayStation Universe that Assassin’s Creed Dynasty will take place in China. The Assassin’s Creed franchise already has some roots in China, with Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China and the short film Assassin’s Creed: Embers. If Dynasty continues these stories, then the game will feature female Assassin Shao Jun. Jun is the only student of Ezio Auditore, the protagonist from the Assassin’s Creed 2 trilogy of games. If Ubisoft focuses the next game on Shao Jun, that means the action will take place right around the end of the Ming Dynasty, in the mid 1500s.

Ubisoft has already explored this territory with Chronicles: China, so it’s possible we could be instead focus on a different era of China’s history. Player. One head Mo Mozuch suggests the Opium Wars in the mid to late 1800s would make for an interesting setting. Pretty much any major political shift in China would also be interesting, and a story involving the fall of one dynasty and the rise of the other would fit in nicely with Assassin’s Creed’s narrative.

At this stage, this is all speculation. Even the Assassin’s Creed Dynasty name could be a working title, similar to how Assassin’s Creed Origins leaked under the name Assassin’s Creed Empire. Even if the Dynasty name is correct, there could be a different setting than China. Basically, we don’t know anything yet, and the information we do have is dubious at best.

So what do you think? Would you like to see an Assassin’s Creed game set in China? What other setting would make for a good Assassin’s Creed game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
