‘Archer’ Season 7 Premiere Date: Will ‘Archer P.I.’ Bring Archer To The Streets?It’s been a long wait , but the Archer season 7 premiere date is Thursday, March 31, which is right around the corner. Except it’s not Archer anymore. This time it’s Archer P.I. Sterling Archer is back on the right side of the law, compared to the good old days of Archer Vice . But it’s not quite the same thing as being the world-trotting secret agent he once was, when he was part of ISIS. No, not that ISIS . Now he’s hitting the streets, if the first trailer is to be believed.
Archer Season 7 Premiere Date: Another Weird Season Ahead?
Archer has demonstrated a continuing ability to totally reinvent itself. This first became evident during the multi-episode arc where Sterling Archer was a pirate king , but really came to the fore during Archer Vice, which was practically a whole different concept with the same characters. Archer season 6 was something of a return to form, although of course the agency isn’t called ISIS anymore.
Archer season 7, though, seems like it will take us afield again —afield into another genre, that is. Archer P.I. puts Sterling Archer and crew back on the right side of the law, but based on the trailer, it looks like they’ll be spending more time on the streets. Or maybe it’s all just a trick, a fun trailer, and we’ll end up with something like a normal season. Creator Adam Reed has reported that this season is going to introduce a new agency boss, and won’t serialize the show quite as much as Archer Vice did. That means that the show won’t have one long continuing arc to it, and won’t be as continuity-heavy as Archer Vice. That’s okay too. Either way, Archer has been running for a surprisingly long time now, and has managed to keep itself feeling fresh. Let’s hope the new season, premiering on March 31, can do the same.
