Publisher Spike Chunsoft has confirmed that Anonymous;Code, the latest entry to the Science Adventure by infamous Japanese developer Mages, will see its highly anticipated Western release sometime in 2023. The confirmed platforms are PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Check out the Western announcement trailer for Anonymous;Code below.

Here’s a short overview of the game as per its official website:

2037. Nakano, Tokyo.

2037. Nakano, Tokyo. Pollon Takaoka and his best friend Cross Yumikawa make a living as a pro hackers wherever they can; wherever hasn't been affected by the "Sad Morning" disaster that occurred February 6th, 2036.

One day, Pollon declares he is going to "elope," despite the fact that he is single. However, he meets a mysterious girl called Momo in a place no one is supposed to be...

Suddenly, mysterious assailants appear and chase after Momo.

Pollon is thrown into numerous plots as a result of his encounter with Momo, and faces a major event that shakes the world.

As the sixth main entry to the Science Adventure series, Anonymous:Code follows the anthology of its other science fiction predecessors. The visual novel tackles the so-called implications of the anticipated “2038 Problem,” a Friday the 13th bug for major computer systems across the globe that is said to have catastrophic results if not addressed. The game takes place in 2037, where the protagonist, Pollon Takaoka, will try to use his special abilities of "saving and loading" (akin to video games' "saves" and "loads") as the story progresses.

The announcement was accompanied by a pre-order infographic, with the pre-orders going live across all platforms tomorrow, July 5. This pre-order option is for the Steelbook Launch Edition, which is available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch game versions. That said, while it is set to go live tomorrow, the Steelbook art has not yet been revealed, which could be something worth noting if you’re planning on picking it up yourself.

The Science Adventure series of visual novels hit peak infamy with the release of Steins;Gate, the second entry. It has been adapted into various other media, including anime, a theatrical movie, drama CDs, light novels, and an upcoming live-action adaptation. It has also spawned numerous spin-offs and was guaranteed a sequel with the announcement of Steins;???, the tentative seventh entry of the Science Adventure series.

You can check out most of the Science Adventure games on PC via Steam, except for Occultic;Nine and Chaos;Head.
