Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Preparing For the Holidays With An Upcoming Update

The cold weather is almost here, but it’s not a problem since Animal Crossing; New Horizons is more than ready to welcome in a warm holiday cheer. There’s going to be a new, free update arriving on November 19 to start the new season.

In a statement, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Nick Chavez said that they are inviting “everyone to experience the holidays together with family and friends in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, along with your island residents bringing their unique seasonal cheer.” He went on to say that they are more than happy “for everyone to discover all the changes arriving to your islands during this holiday season.”

One thing that players can look forward to is Turkey Day. It’s going to be on November 26, and what’s going to happen is that first-class chef Franklin is set to host a gathering in the plaza. Players can help Franklin collect the ingredients that are needed to go in the dishes, and in return get a gift as a thank you.

There is also Toy Day that’s going to be celebrated on December 24, and sees Jingle arrives to the island. Help him deliver presents and receive a gift for yourself. That’s not all, because as the month of Toy Day nears, players are sure to notice that their island is starting to become more festive. In addition, from December 1 to December 25, players can buy toys from Nook’s Cranny as well as holiday-themed clothing over at the Able Sisters shop.

Then from December 26 until December 31, there’s also going to be some festive items arriving to celebrate New Year’s Eve. A countdown event is also set to start on December 31 at 7:00 PM.

Here are the other features arriving with the new update:

  • Reactions and Hairstyles
    • Nine new Reactions are going to be offered and obtained by redeeming Nook Miles at the Nook Stop terminal that’s located in Resident Services.
    • Six new hairstyle options can also be obtained by redeeming Nook Miles.
  • Home Storage Upgrade
    • For those who managed to expand their in-game homes to the largest size and even pay off their debt, they can apply for a home storage expansion.
      • To do this, simply go to Resident Services and speak to Tom Nook.
    • The home storage for players should expand to 2400 slots.
  • Visit Random Islands in Dreams
    • Players can now choose to visit random islands while dreaming.
  • Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Collaboration
    • This celebration is in honor of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp reaching its third anniversary.
    • A Pocket Camp smartphone model is going to become available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
      • To get this smartphone model, players simply need to link both the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp app and Animal Crossing: New Horizons to their Nintendo account.

The new update also comes with two new features that offer expanded flexibility for the player’s island and resident data. The whole island transfer feature should allow players to move their user save data to another system. The service is going to be facilitated through the free Island Transfer Tool app in the Nintendo eShop. Learn more about this new feature here.

The next update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is arriving in late January 2021.
