‘Young Justice’ Season 3 Release Date: Will Netflix Pick Up New Episodes?

Young Justice Season 3 has entered production, but the new season’s release date and network or streaming partner is still a mystery. Warner Bros. has promised more information soon, but multiple statements from series creator Greg Weisman in the past six months suggest we could already know who he’s partnered with to make this happen.

Weisman spoke on v oice actor Christopher Niosi’s YouTube channel in June and specifically named Netflix as a potential streaming partner. “I've had a couple conversations with the folks at Warner Bros., and even a conversation with some folks at Netflix, and I have a basic understanding of how this works,” he said.

Netflix is known for reviving TV shows with a large fanbase. The streaming giant has recently brought back Gilmore Girls , which ended in 2007, and made a sequel to Full House. During the interview, Weisman also asserted, "this is not me blowing smoke. I truly believe it is possible.”

Clearly Weisman had hope, and he urged fans Netflix could play an instrumental role in getting Warner Bros. to consider a third season. The series was originally cancelled because “there was no money to make the show,” according to Weisman. That’s definitely a problem Netflix can solve.

When Weisman laid out a step-by-step plan to eager fans, he specifically said part of the strategy was “Continuing to marathon the entire series on Netflix. As many times as possible, for as many PEOPLE as possible, to register that the show is trending.”

Comicbook.com also reports Young Justice writer Peter Davis shot down reports he had been approached by Netflix, but did admit Weisman told him over lunch that Netflix was “seriously consideirng an offer.”

In September, Weisman answered a question on his fan website Station Eight about whether or not Netflix would pick up the series. "I think there's a decent chance of the show coming back. Not a guarantee, mind you, but a solid decent chance. I don't say that lightly either,” he said.

While we can’t rule out Cartoon Network or even streaming services like Amazon or Hulu, Netflix is certainly at the top of the list. Are you rooting for Netflix? Let us know in the comments below!
