WWE And Nintendo Collaboration Could Be In The Works

Nintendo might be working on something with WWE, but what it is isn’t clear. This is pure speculation, but a number of signs point to the two companies working together.

The most obvious sign of some kind of collaboration is a recent tweet sent out by Doug Bowser, the head of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. In the tweet, Bowser shared a picture of him meeting WWE Superstar John Cena alongside Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé.

Before you can even think it, Cena has already made the “You can’t see him” joke about the picture. The reason why Cena met with two of the biggest names at Nintendo of America remains unclear. However, Cena has worked with Nintendo in the past to promote the Switch at launch events across the country.

That’s not all for Nintendo/WWE crossovers. Bayley, fresh from her return at No Mercy, will participate in the Nintendo World Championships next weekend at New York Comic-Con. Bayley is one of eight invited competitors who will face off against 16 others who earned a spot from smaller competitions across the country.

So what does this all mean? It’s possible it’s all just a coincidence. Cena has been moving beyond the WWE with work in commercials, event appearances and movie roles. It’s possible a partnership with Nintendo is another step in that direction. Bayley is also a frequent guest on the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel, meaning she’s probably a big fan of games. She could be competing in the Nintendo World Championships simply because she’s a big fan of Nintendo and wants to participate.

Seeing as how WWE 2K18 is coming to the Switch this year, it would make sense for Nintendo and WWE to work together. Nintendo is a family-friendly company and Cena and Bayley are arguably the two most family-friendly Superstars in the WWE. If the two companies were to work together, there would be no better spokespeople. While this will probably not result in some new WWE game coming to the Switch, it could end with Nintendo promoting a PPV or special episodes of UpUpDownDown.

So what do you think? Would you like to see Nintendo and WWE team up for something in the future? Do you think this is all just a series of coincidences? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
