Maggie and Glenn’s storyline in The Walking Dead isn’t over yet. Showrunner Scott Gimple has faith the two characters will reunite on-screen at some point in the series.

During an interview with TV Line, Gimple admitted he’s thought about bringing Glenn back to the show. It wouldn’t be a difficult task, and we’re pretty confident Steven Yeun would gladly take on the role of Glenn for a brief arc.

“Pretty good, actually. As Maggie gets closer to giving birth, it’s certainly possible. I’d be silly to say it isn’t,” Gimple said.

Death doesn’t mean your character is forever gone in The Walking Dead universe. We’ve seen characters like Beth and Lori return to the show postmortem through hallucinations. We wouldn’t be surprised if Maggie saw Glenn as she was giving birth to their child.

Speaking of giving birth, Maggie isn’t as far along in her pregnancy as you might assume. Gimple confirmed to TV Line “not a lot of time has passed” since Glenn’s death. We’re assuming she’s, at the most, three months pregnant at this point in the show. At the time of Glenn’s death she was probably only a few weeks pregnant. However, Gimple didn’t specify how far along Maggie actually is in her pregnancy.

We wouldn’t be surprised if The Walking Dead Season 8 began with a time jump due to Maggie’s pregnancy. In the comic books, there’s a significant jump between the first fight of the All Out War arc to the second. The communities rally around each other and stop working for Negan. In the time jump, Maggie also goes from announcing her pregnancy to caring for a child. The comics never show Maggie’s baby bump or a newborn baby Rhee.

The Walking Dead Season 8 premieres on AMC this October.
