The Walking Dead Season 7 has been a tough one for Daryl Dixon. The show has tortured the character mentally and physically, which cast member Norman Reedus wasn’t necessarily prepared for during filming.

During The Talking Dead, Reedus spoke candidly about his time on The Walking Dead Season 7 set. Reedus knew Rick’s group would be faced with difficult situations, but he didn’t expect to carry some of the emotions with him when he left the set each day.

“This whole season has been really hard for me,” Reedus said. “I was talking to Melissa, and she was like, ‘You know, it’s interesting. Your character has literally been stripped of all of his stuff - his outfit, who he is, [been] taken from his people and everything else.’ It’s just been rough, all of it. It’s been a rough season for me and for all of us. We’re not together as much as we’re used to being. It’s been hard.”

Reedus even talked about the reunion with Rick, which was quite powerful for the cast. Apparently they were crying on set every time Daryl and Rick would hug each other on the Hilltop set. However, Reedus first thought when seeing Maggie as Daryl was, “I hope she can forgive me for what I’ve done.”

Remember, Daryl is directly responsible for Glenn’s death. It was Daryl’s outburst that sent Negan into a fit of rage and caused Lucille to come out for a second time. Daryl’s outburst also caused him to become Negan’s first prisoner of war.

Well, Daryl’s now free and Negan is definitely going to want him back. We saw Negan kill two people in Alexandria and take Eugene as another prisoner. Eugene was the brains of Alexandria; they need him to create bullets for them. Negan sees value in Eugene, so he’ll probably keep him alive until there’s no more use for him.
