It was only a matter of time before puberty hit Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead . After all, hooking up is the only thing you can really do in the zombie apocalypse.

Katelyn Nacon, who plays Enid in The Walking Dead , spoke to ComicBook.com about her character taking over the “love interet” role. In the comics, Sophia becomes Glenn and Maggie’s adoptive daughter after Carol’s suicide-by-walker. She also becomes close with Carl and becomes his first “girlfriend.” It was more like puppy love, but it was still a cute part of the comics.

Enid’s become a part of Maggie’s life and she also cared a lot about Glenn. Enid wants to help Maggie because she’s the only one who doesn’t treat her like a child. Enid’s relationship with Maggie resembles much of Sophia’s character arc in the comics, so it’s possible she’ll pick up other plot points as well.

"Glenn and Maggie adopt her and it was starting to look like that," Nacon told ComicBook.com, referring to Sophia’s story. "They were starting to become almost parental figures in her life. So, maybe, we might see it. I hear Sophia is a total bad-ass in the comics."

However, Enid’s role is more than just Carl’s crush. Nacon told ComicBook.com she doesn’t think it’s the best time for Enid and Carl to have a romance, but she does want to see the characters be happy. For now, Enid will probably focus her attention and affection on Maggie, who’s dealing with her pregnancy and Glenn’s death.

Let’s leave Enid and Carl romance alone for the time being. In the comics, Carl is forced to grow up way too fast. We aren’t ready for Carl to have sex. Nope. We don’t want to see it. The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
