It has been years of struggles for Steam Deck owners who prefer using the GeForce Now cloud gaming service on their devices to play games, but that is all over thanks to the latest app from Nvidia.
Many Steam Deck owners have opted to use a workaround in order to get the GeForce Now experience in their handhelds natively, and this also helps them maximize the settings of their gameplay to their liking.
Thanks to this release from Nvidia, Steam Deck users will no longer need to opt for other available cloud gaming services that already offer them apps or undertake painstaking ways to make GeForce Now work on their handhelds.
Steam Deck Can Now Access GeForce Now
According to the latest blog post shared by Nvidia, Steam Deck users may now enjoy direct and native access to the GeForce Now service by downloading an app that is meant for the handhelds to run.
Nvidia revealed that this new app will let users maximize the experience by offering the full power of the GeForce Now platform to users as opposed to the previous setup.
GeForce RTX-powered gameplay is available in this new app from Nvidia, and this means that Steam Deck users may now choose to maximize the graphics and experiences on their portable gaming devices. Nvidia claims that Valve Steam Deck owners may use this app to "supercharge" and unlock the full potential of the console using the GeForce Now cloud platform.
Through this new app, Nvidia guarantees that users may now stream titles found in the service on the Steam Deck consoles, with users given the chance to play games in 4K quality and 60fps when connected to televisions. GeForce Now also leverages HDR10, NVIDIA DLSS 4, and Reflex technologies on supported titles for the handheld console when connected to an external monitor.
Nvidia also said that Steam Deck users may get access to over 2,200 supported games available on GeForce Now on top of the many games from other platforms like Steam, Xbox, and more.
How to Install the Nvidia GeForce Now App?
According to CNET's report, users may download the Nvidia GeForce Now app on their respective Steam Decks starting today, and this will allow them instant access to the cloud platform and its features.
To download the GeForce Now app, users need to put their Steam Deck consoles in the Desktop mode so that they can access a browser that will help them find the app page. Proceed to the download link to get the installer from Nvidia and then double-click or tap on the downloaded file to get started.
