Void Interactive first announced their upcoming tactical shooter game, Ready Or Not, in March 2017. Although there was a lot of hype over the past year regarding development and the work that was being put into it, Void Interactive went radio-silent a few months ago, much to the concern of its growing fan-base. Player. One is happy to report that Void Interactive has just released eight minutes of Ready Or Not gameplay footage, and it’s looking fantastic so far.

In Ready Or Not, players take on the role of a decorated SWAT commander. Set in an unnamed (and probably fictional) city in the United States, Ready Or Not tasks players with defusing hostile situations and neutralizing threats to public safety and freedom.

Ready Or Not is designed to be a tactical first-person shooter, much like the games in the Rainbow Six franchise. Ready Or Not emphasizes planning and strategy, and pays close attention to realism and detail. Fans of tactical FPS games may notice several inspirations from Irrational Games’ SWAT 4, arguably one of the most well-received games in the genre.

At its core, Ready Or Not is a well-researched and realistic simulation into the tense, action-packed combat situations experienced by SWAT operatives. Developer Void Interactive has been working with police teams and task forces from all over the world to bring players a one-of-a-kind tactical gaming experience. Ready Or Not’s gameplay is based on real-life rules of engagement, and implements realistic models and physics for mechanics like bullet penetration, ricochet, body armor dynamics, and more. The gameplay teaser revealed some interesting features and mechanics as well, including an in-depth planning system, intuitive controls, team commands, and plenty of customization.

We don’t know the exact release date, but Ready Or Not is set for launch in the final quarter of 2020. Void Interactive will be releasing the title exclusively on PC, but depending on the game’s success, might look into console versions as well. Fans of the upcoming title can already pre-order the Standard Edition for $39.99. This includes the full game when it comes out, as well as access to the closed beta scheduled in June 2020. Or, die-hard fans can show their full support by pre-ordering the Supporter Edition for $119.99, which nets players everything in Standard, but with a few perks and exclusives.
