Mario and the gang are again teaming up with the Rabbids for an all-new adventure. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch in 2022.

The game is an official sequel to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, released back in 2017. This crossover is a turn-based tactical RPG based on Mario of Nintendo and Raving Rabbids of Ubisoft.

Gameplay

In this new game, players take on a mysterious entity known as the Cursa, which brings along its minions. It seems that Cursa has been working to bring chaos to the galaxy and twist planets using its evil influence. Cursa is also consuming the energy made by the Sparks, entities formed by fusing Rabbids and Lumas. Players need to save planets, rescue the Sparks, and of course, beat Cursa.

The gameplay of Sparks of Hope is like that of Kingdom Battle where players need to build a roster from nine characters that include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabid Luigi, and Rabid Peach. There is even a new character called Rabbid Rosalina.

Combat System

One of the things players can expect is the new combat system. Like the previous game, players must form a team composed of three heroes. However, in this sequel, the battle features both turn-based tactics and real-time action. What that means is during the hero’s turn, players can move in an area and take cover, team jump on allies, or even dash at enemies, all in real-time.

Remember the Sparks mentioned earlier? There are going to be dozens of them and each offers a unique power and ability. These powers and abilities can help turn the tide in battle. Though players need to find and rescue them first.

In addition, the design of the levels is less linear compared to the previous game. A big change as well is that the new game only has a single-player mode.

More details about Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope are set to be released at a future date.
