Publisher Digerati (Snakeybus, Animal Super Squad) and developer Event Horizon have just announced the upcoming console version of their dungeon crawling, action role-playing title Tower of Time. Originally released for PC via Steam in April of 2018, it will be made available for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before the end of the month. The most important point of the announcement comes in the form of an overhaul on the control scheme for console players.

Tower of Time is an isometric role-playing title that drops players in the midst of a world filled with lore, mystery, and combat. Dubbing itself as the reinvention of the RPG genre, players get to combine classic turn-based RPG combat with real time moves and tactics. Players can either pause or slow down time to plan their moves, strategically place their warriors, control the battlefield with magical spells, or prepare their troops for incoming waves of enemies.

Tower of Time boasts up to 50 hours of gameplay, and is filled with seven distinct classes, a complex skill system, equipment and alignment systems, crafting, enchanting, and more. There are also 150 unique enemies and 50 bosses, each with their own unique skills and tactics. Once players have finished the game’s expansive story and lore, they can go through Tower of Time's unique Combat Challenges, or maybe repeat the campaign on one of five difficulty levels. Currently, the game boasts a Very Positive rating on Steam and a 77 rating on Metacritic with most of the praise pointed towards its visuals and strong storytelling. Criticism is mostly due to the game’s stretched feel, with most of the elements being repetitive, turning what should be a 20-30-hour title to a 50 hour one.

Tower of Time will launch for the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store on June 23 in North America and June 24 in Europe. For the Nintendo Switch, it will be available through the Nintendo eShop on June 25. The Xbox One will get the latest release date, which is on June 26. Tower of Time is currently available on Steam and GOG for $24.99.
