The denizens of the sands are finally coming to Total War: Warhammer II , in a new DLC called Rise Of The Tomb Kings. For 19 dollars, you’ll get a whole new faction and four lords with their own unique abilities that will be playable on the vortex and giant mortal empires map. There’s no new story and the price is extremely steep, but if you’re a huge fan of Khemri and Egyptian skeleton warriors, you can’t pass this up.

I was a huge fan of the Warhammer tabletop game back in high school, and the Tomb Kings always fascinated me the most. Using chariots in a rank and file formation, I’d annihilate my enemy’s weak soldiers with spiked wheels and skeleton mares. Their models were always the ugliest and least detailed, since they hadn’t received a full update in years, but I loved them nonetheless.

Reigning from the empire of Nehekhara, the Tomb Kings were once an extremely prosperous civilization. Before Sigmar, the Warhammer equivalent of Jesus, united the fractured nations of man into the Empire, these Egyptian knock-offs conquered more lands than they knew what to do with. All was hunky dory until Setra, the cruelest leader and ruler of Khemri, managed to find a way to stay alive forever. A cult of death took over the priests of the nation, transforming them into an army of undead less goofy than the Vampire Counts.

Things got worse when Nagash ruled over the lands. Building a black pyramid, he raised an army of skeleton warriors to do his bidding and fight on his behalf. Nagash was defeated by the Army Of the Seven Kingdoms, cursing their names as his people turned to aged dust. Centuries went by and the Tomb Kings stirred once more, ready to unleash their might on the world that’s forgotten them. With sand scorpions, bone giants and catapults made of human remains, the Tomb Kings are ready to kick some real ass.
