Jennifer Connelly of Labyrinth fame will be starring in an hour long drama pilot based on Bong Joon-ho’s film of the same name (which in turn was based on a French graphic novel ). For those who don’t know, Snowpiercer is set after a catastrophic event that has frozen the planet and rendered it nearly unlivable. Survivors ride on the titular train circumnavigating the globe to avoid the cold.

The TV series pilot is set seven years after the event that has frozen the world. Like in the film, rich passengers in first class will have access to all sorts of luxuries, while those in the back of the train are sick, starving and living in horrible conditions.

According to Deadline, in the pilot for TNT, Connelly will play Melanie Cavill a first class passenger and the ‘Voice of the Train.’ As the Voice, she is responsible for making daily announcements to the other passengers. She is set to star opposite Daveed Diggs, who plays a third class passenger who reluctantly gets involved in an uprising.

Boon Joon-ho is set to Executive produce alongside Oldboy director Chan-wook Park. The pilot Dr. Strange director Scott Derrickson and is coming from showrunner Josh Friedman. Check back in for more news as it develops.
