TLOU Director's New Studio Revealed as Wildflower Interactive; First Game Already in Development

Bruce Straley left Naughty Dog in 2017, and now he has a new studio to run.

Game director Bruce Straley, best known for his work on The Last of Us, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, has officially revealed his new studio called Wildflower Interactive. This new studio consists of former staff who worked on various titles, some on the big AAA side with others on the artistic indie side. The newly-launched website for Wildflower Interactive also confirms that its first game is already underway, with some job openings also now available for those who want to join its burgeoning team. Here’s what Bruce Straley had to say on the creation of Wildflower Interactive as per the video:

“In 2017 I left the industry not sure if I wanted to make games anymore. But the longer I was away, I kept thinking about this medium, and everything yet to be done and everything I wanted to do still. And this idea kept following me. So, I grabbed some friends and we started prototyping. And the idea started getting good. It started becoming exciting again!”

Wildflower Interactive’s current staff credits include games in the Call of Duty series, Pathless, Abzu, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits, in addition to Bruce Straley’s work on The Last of Us and Uncharted titles during his tenure at Naughty Dog. The current staff page lists the following members:

As for currently available roles in the company, Wildflower Interactive listed open positions for a Studio Manager, an Audio Designer, an Environment/Technical Artist, a Character Modeler/Rigger, a VFX Artist, an experienced Gameplay and Systems Designer, a Programmer for Infrastructure/Tools, and an Animator. The Careers landing page also has a separate link for any other positions that people think they can fill but are not listed. The company is based in California, but all of the current open positions are for remote work with plans to maintain a hybrid workspace in the future.
