‘Tiny Tower’ For Android Is Back: Offline Version In Beta, & Currently Accepting Testers Tiny Tower

Months after Tiny Tower was pulled from the Android Google Play app store, developers NimbleBit have announced they’re looking for beta testers to try playing the new offline version of Tiny Tower. The old version of Tiny Tower was online-based, meaning that when the game was pulled from the Google Play store, support for the Android version of Tiny Tower went along with it.

Tiny Tower is a popular business simulation game, originally released in 2011, that allows players to create a tower housing various businesses and residential floors. The player takes on the position of the tower’s manager and is responsible for adding more floors to help the tower grow.

NimbleBit posted on reddit recently to look for beta testers and apparently have received such a flood of applicants that they included an in-game Easter egg for the /r/AndroidGaming community.

According to a post from a Tiny Tower dev, the tester limit has been removed so if you’re hoping to be able to beta test Tiny Tower, you’re in luck. Simply go to this link and click the “BECOME A TESTER” button while logged in with your Google Play account.

If you did this on your Android device, then a download should appear after clicking on the button. If you enrolled in the beta program while on a desktop browser however, simply search for “Tiny Tower” in the Google Play app store on your phone.

The same dev post also explained the absence of Tiny Towers from the Google Play store:

“Years ago, we contracted with Mobage to port Tiny Tower from iOS to Android, which they did using a proprietary engine / language. About 6 months ago they discontinued support for the game and pulled down the servers. Since then we have been rebuilding the game using Unity so that we can keep supporting both the iOS and Android version far into the future.”

New features for Tiny Tower includes being able to trade bitizens with friends, the ability to rename bitizens, items called Golden Tickets, a floor management system called QuickStock, as well new missions, costumes and floors options.

Tiny Tower itself can be downloaded for iOS. The official Android version of Tiny Tower will be released May 26 according to a tweet from the developer. NimbleBit also offers a sister Tiny Tower game available for download in the Google Play store called Tiny Tower Vegas.
