Get ready for Game of Thrones withdrawal. Tonight’s the first night without a new Game of Thrones episode since April, and that’s sure to leave your spirit wondering when the show will return. Fear not, my loves: Game of Thrones season 6 is expected right on schedule. It was greenlit way back in 2014, since the show is such a tremendous success now, and pre-production has already started. Fear not… HBO isn’t going to let its biggest success ever get delayed.

Game Of Thrones Season 6 Premiere Date: All’s Well

Game of Thrones season 6 was greenlit on April 8, 2014 at the same time as the now freshly concluded season 5. HBO isn’t taking any chances, and wants to keep those salary raises to a minimum, you know what I mean? As a result, the show has had ample opportunity to ramp things up for the production of the next season: There was never any doubt about its continuation.

According to the Game of Thrones wiki, the show is already confirmed to be returning to Croatia this year—despite the foofaraw about the Cersei nudity scene—and also to Spain. So we’re going to get more King’s Landing (duh), and more Dorne. See? The production team is hard at work jet-setting around Europe for you already, so you don’t have to worry about Game of Thrones season 6 missing its premiere date.

Next season will be a big one, the first that wholly eclipses the books—unless Winds of Winter actually manages to come out first, which is a big ol’ question mark. Whether you think the last season was terrible, like I do, or decent enough television, it’ll be hard to resist the show’s siren call. It’s expected to return in April 2016, according to the International Business Times. We’ll be ready. For lots and lots of spoilers and changes.
