My friends, we’ve just gotten our first hint of Game of Thrones season 6 spoilers, and man, I’m thrilled to say it includes good news. The fan site Watchers on the Wall tracked down a casting list for the new season, and it includes a whole slew of clues (a clue-slew) about who is going to be in the next season. There are two pretty clear characters in the list: Euron Greyjoy and Randyll Tarly. The rest are more mysterious, but hey, that’s good news already. Let’s take a look-see.

Game Of Thrones Season 6 Characters: Greyjoy & Tarly Join The Fray

I have been pretty down on Game of Thrones season 5, since even before it started airing. That’s in part because it cut a whole bunch of important characters who should have been in the show. Well, it looks like they’re adding back in one of the big four who are missing (Euron Greyjoy, Victarion Greyjoy, Arianne Martell, and Young Griff).

According to the casting list from Watchers on the Wall, here’s one of the roles:

Pirate, man in his 40’s to late 50’s. He’s “an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness.” He’s a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season.

Yea, that’s Euron Greyjoy for sure. He’s been terrorizing since time immemorial, whereas Victarion Greyjoy’s reaving is a bit more late onset. Now, none of the other casting notes sound particularly like Victarion, so it’s possible that the two characters will be combined into one, which… yea, I get it. That’s fine. I’ll just be glad to get some more Greyjoys.

As for the other character, check out this description:

Father. Aged 50’s to 60’s, he’s one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros- a humorless martinet, severe and intimidating. He demands martial discipline in the field and in his home. It’s described as “a very good part” for next year and that he’s “centrally involved” in a protagonist’s storyline.

Consensus seems to be that this is Randyll Tarly, and I can’t really argue with that. It makes sense, especially because he’ll be pretty involved in the King’s Landing storylines next season. And I’m sure they’ll have Sam run into him at some point.

It’s worth taking a look at the rest of the casting list, but none of the others are so cut-and-dry or so interesting. And hey, the cast is going to expand again! It’s easy to get excited about that. Game of Thrones season 6 will premiere in spring 2016.
