Even episodes leaking in advance couldn’t stop the hurtling capital ship that was the Rick and Morty Season 2 premiere. In the least unexpected move in recent TV history Adult Swim has officially renewed Rick and Morty for Season 3.

The July 26 premiere of Rick and Morty Season 2 was No. 1 in its slot among all “key adults and men,” getting more than double the viewers of the Rick and Morty Season 1 premiere.
Rick and Morty Season 2 has so far topped Rick and Morty Season 1, debuting three episodes that each stand amongst the series’ best, while also tackling more serious material, including a shocking attempted suicide in Rick and Morty Season 2 Episode 3.
Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, Rick and Morty and is about a scientist with a very expansive view of moral relativism who drags his grandson through “high concept sci-fi rigmarole,” often dragging the entire Sanchez family into galactic-level dangers. If you haven’t seen Rick and Morty think Futurama, except a heartless cyborg version with the additional RAM required for enhanced units of comedy and science-fiction.
The enthusiastic fanbase of Rick and Morty have been celebrating the Season 3 renewal:

Rick and Morty renewed for season 3? Rick and Morty dot com! Rick and Morty 100 years!
— Schmullus (Logan) (@Schmullus1) August 12, 2015
Considerably more ambitious than Community fans, the Rick and Morty rallying cry calls for 100 years of episodes. But for 2015 the remaining episodes of Rick and Morty Season 2 will have to suffice.
